Scrap Appliance and Metal Drop-off Event on Sat., April 8

West Des Moines residents may bring scrap appliances and metal to the West Des Moines Public Services facility, 560 S. 16th Street, on Saturday morning, April 8, from 8 a.m. to 12:00 (noon). West Des Moines will provide personnel to assist residents with unloading items.

Secure paper shredding will not be provided at this event.

Some of the items that will be accepted free of charge include general scrap metal and the following:
Air conditioners, furnaces, washers, dryers, microwaves, dishwashers, water heaters, stoves, refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, humidifiers, fax machines, copiers, computer servers and towers, printers, video gaming systems, VCR and DVD players, cell phones, exercise equipment, metal cabinets, riding and walk behind lawnmowers, cameras, pots, pans, blenders, mixers, toasters, speakers and stereo systems.

Televisions and computer monitors will be accepted for a fee (cash or check only):

Any TVs (regular size) - $15/each
Computer monitors - $15/each
Console TVs - $30/each
Big Screen TVs - $30/each

Items that will NOT be accepted include:
Anything with food in it, chemicals, garbage, light bulbs, paint, plastics and wood.
